Operations Strategic Planning and Risk (OSPR) is the internal management consulting arm of Operations which delivers significant value to a diverse set of internal leaders. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the Strategic Resource Planning Manager role reporting to Director, Strategic Resource Planning and located in Thousand Oaks, CA. You will be an integral member of a high performing team chartered to deliver comprehensive analytics that support unbiased network recommendations to build value for Operations. You will lead cross functional evaluations that impact Amgen's Manufacturing Network and assist in developing our long-term strategy.

Job Responsibilities
  • Advancing Operations strategy for optimization of the commercial product supply network (across drug-substance, drug-product, finished drug-product and distribution), while supporting advancement of Amgen's innovative molecules and biosimilars product pipeline. Examples of integrated OSPR-led assessments include:
    • Cross-functional business cases for investments in the manufacturing network
    • Optimizing clinical and commercial networks to balance cost, risk, operational efficiency and flexibility
    • Identifying and quantifying current risks to the supply network from both the product and operational perspective
    • Developing flexible, risk-based supply chain strategies in support of globalization
    • Evaluating product launch readiness and pipeline activities to enable risk-based commercialization
  • Developing cross-functional business cases for key manufacturing process areas and risk mitigation strategies
  • Conduct analysis of site selections, network optimization and risk analyses, risk quantification, capacity evaluation, scenarios and business development due diligence
  • Aligning with cross-functional partners on operational, financial and regulatory assumptions (quality/compliance, costs, capacity, inventory, risk) that impact performance of the supply network
  • Serve as thought partner in a dedicated process area (drug substance, drug product, finished drug product, distribution, business development and risk); developing recommendations, driving decisions and delivering presentations to the Operations Leadership Team
  • Develop analytical and risk assessment tools and processes.
  • Develop recommendations, drive decisions, and deliver presentations to the Senior Operations Leadership.
  • Perform fully integrated analysis for broader assessments at direction of senior OSP leaders.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience

OR

Associate degree and 10 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations or Life Sciences experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business management or life sciences
  • 4+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical operations/manufacturing/process development/supply chain experience
  • Knowledge of drug development, manufacturing processes, regulatory issues, end-to-end supply chain
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative skills including financial analysis, risk assessments and product life cycle management
  • Good business insight, high-level critical thinking and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to use statistical analysis software
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, priorities and tasks with minimal direction
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed or team environment with site, divisional and corporate executive leadership
  • Ability to lead a high-volume of projects at a time while consistently delivering quality end-product
