Job Details

Oncology is a key therapeutic area for AbbVie, with a portfolio consisting of three marketed products - Imbruvica®, Venclexta™, and Empliciti™ and a pipeline containing multiple promising new molecules that are being studied in nearly 200 clinical trials in 19 different types of cancer.

In AbbVie Oncology Early Development (OED), we strive to develop a rich and innovative pipeline of transformative cancer therapies by uniquely combining our deep knowledge in core areas of biology with cutting-edge technologies, and working together with our partners - scientists, clinical experts, industry peers, and patients - to discover and develop medicines that drive transformational improvements in cancer treatment.

We are seeking a Bioassay Development Scientist to join our Analytical Development team to support the development and evaluation of newly discovered drugs and existing clinical candidates. In this lab-based role, your major responsibilities will include bioassay development, analytical testing, and molecular characterization to support the development of therapeutic antibodies, antibody variants, and antibody drug conjugates (ADC).

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, cell/molecular biology, or a related field with typically 5 years of applicable industry experience, or Master's Degree in biology, cell/molecular biology, or a related field with typically 2 years of applicable industry experience.
  • Experience performing biological activity and target binding assays in a Bioassay Development group or QC lab setting within a Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) organization.
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based functional assays.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current cell-based assay technologies and methodologies, such as cytotoxicity assays, reporter assays, and flow cytometry.
  • Experience with ELISA, TR-FRET, AlphaScreen/AlphaLISA, Octet, and/or other binding assay platforms is desirable.
  • Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative scientific environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate will be hard-working, self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to learn and adapt quickly.
