Scientific Affairs Sr Manager - Biosimilars

This Senior Manager will be responsible for communicating scientific information on Amgen biosimilars to the global healthcare community, enabling informed decision making for optimal patient care and access to Amgen products. The Senior Manager's responsibilities will include strategic partnership and execution of initiatives such as communicating disease state and product information to internal and external customers, providing support for key scientific congresses including creation of Scientific Affairs booths (or Scientific Affairs booth materials for broader Amgen booths), management of symposia, management of scientific platforms, scientific advisory boards, development of scientific resources used by Amgen staff globally, and management of project-associated budgets.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a matrix environment on cross-functional teams that are focused on supporting Amgen's biosimilar scientific programs. Success in this position requires excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills. In this role, the Senior Manager will have managerial duties that include one direct report and the management of vendors and/or consultants.

This position is located in Thousand Oaks, CA and will involve approximately 10% travel.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Clinical Research, Patient Care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research experience
OR
Master's degree and 6 years of Clinical Research, Patient Care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Clinical Research, Patient Care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Clinical Research, Patient Care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Clinical Research, Patient Care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research experience

Preferred Requirements:

• Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. with 2 or more years of relevant experience in Clinical Research, Patient Care, Clinical Development, Medical/Scientific Affairs, and/or basic research experience. (Other doctorate degrees may be considered)
• Prior experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the bio-pharmaceutical industry, and/or clinical or research experience in the areas of biosimilars, inflammation, and oncology
• An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of the regulatory and legal guidelines affecting promotion of prescription products
• Aptitude in writing and presenting on scientific and clinical data
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, time management, and project planning skills
• Demonstrated track record of strategic execution in a matrix environment
• The ability to work in teams and interface in a dynamic environment across corporate functions
• Understanding of disease landscape and clinical data to enable critical analysis of scientific literature and communicate implications cross-functionally
• Prior experience of successfully managing consultants and vendors
• Strong computer and database skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products
