The Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC) Associate Director is responsible for leadership, strategic development and implementation of AbbVie's Compliance Program. Specifically, this position supports the R&D Clinical, Global Medical Affairs and HEOR functions and other enterprise wide initiatives

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Director performs the following with limited supervision:

  • Serves as primary compliance liaison to Executive leadership, including but not limited to R&D Clinical Development, Medical Operations and HEOR.
  • Actively engages with business partners to understand and provide proactive compliance guidance on the development and execution of proposed strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Provides leadership and guidance on business programs, identifies complex compliance issues, analyzes alternatives and works with business partners to develop and implement solutions.
  • Management of quarterly Compliance Insights Forum executive leadership meetings for R&D/HEOR in partnership with the functional lead.
  • Supports strategies relating to corporate and/or functional monitoring plans and any corrective actions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Represents OEC in functional committee meetings relating to relevant compliance areas.
  • Reviews and edits all policy updates in functional areas supported.
  • Coordinates with business and partners with audit team for annual reviews and remediation.
  • Leads cross-functional teams/projects relating to compliance strategies and execution.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of industry's practices and procedures as well as the external risk environment.
  • Serves as liaison and SME to other areas of OEC, including Brand Business Compliance, International, Training, and Monitoring.
  • Identifies and manages compliance implications of novel enterprise wide initiatives.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership competencies.

Position Accountability / Scope

Reports to Director, OEC Enterprise Compliance. Assigned matters have significant impact to company ethics and compliance program. Defines annual goals and strategies to align with business goals and objectives. Strategically partners with Legal, Regulatory and other areas of OEC.

BA/BS or equivalent work experience required. Masters or JD preferred.

  • BA/BS required.
  • JD or MBA, preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years applicable experience, with strong preference for health care compliance, legal and/or regulatory experience.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills including PowerPoint Presentations.
  • Strong work ethic and proven track record of closing out initiatives successfully.
