Under moderate direction this Project Manager - Food Services role directs Amgen's Food & Staff Amenity Services program (FOOD) at multiple locations in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico providing broad service procurement and directing complex dining services. This Project Manager has a passion for food and hospitality, strong exposure to the food services industry, possesses a strong customer focus and plays an integral role in delivery of this critical benefit to Amgen staff. It requires building successful partnerships with external food service providers in the execution of a comprehensive café, catering services, specialty events, childcare nutrition, amenity and office coffee service program, as well as future design of associated spaces. In monitoring service delivery and performance data this individual has the authority to make recommendations for service level modifications and other improvements to sustain a high level of customer satisfaction, operational uptime and overall benefit to consumers.

In collaboration with Food Service Provider counterpart, key accountabilities of this position include service delivery and performance of Provider at multiple sites, oversight of savings initiatives and budget adherence. The Project Manager - Food Services shall also be accountable for problem resolution, supplier relationship management and effectively communicating to different levels of the organization. Additional responsibilities include leading program governance and processes, driving the execution of innovative ideas in partnership with Provider and stakeholders, and promoting process improvements. This position supports the Strategic Planning & Operations Director as required. Travel up to 20% is a requirement for this position.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of food services operations and/or management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of food services operations and/or management experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of food services operations and/or management experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of food services operations and/or management experience

AND

Previous managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading food services, catering, event management, innovation and sustainability
  • Prior experience working in a dynamic corporate environment
  • Leadership in hospitality industry/facility management and/or services experience required (preferably within the Business and Industry (B&I) sector)
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
  • Exceptionally skilled in effective verbal and written communications
  • Strong finance background to support evaluations of service and goods cost structures
  • Working knowledge of Maximo for maintenance of kitchen equipment by Provider
  • Experience working with and supporting outsourced service partners
  • Ability to manage adherence of contractual terms of outsourced partners via governance processes
  • Ability to drive innovative practices and operational efficiency, and oversee implementation of such
  • Strong organizational skills to multi-task in a spirited environment
  • Connection to food service industry associations a plus
