The QC Virology Bioinformatics intern will be responsible for routine monitoring and maintenance of QC Virology's implemented GMP Compliance Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Analysis software, bioinformatic method development for novel in-house sequencing pipelines, and investigational support. The technical position will require excellent communication skills with team members, management, and NGS vendors. The role will require a high level of task related management and organization for the creation of work tasks and projects encompassing bioinformatic solutions within a cGMP compliant environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop and assist in implementing proprietary in-house Next Generation Sequencing pipelines and databases within a GMP environment.

• Provide assistance in forecasting and sustaining business operational models for method development, validation and continuous improvement in QC Virology.

• Work day to day with team members to implement novel bioinformatic pipelines, techniques, and technologies to assist with new QC Virology sequencing assays and platforms (e.g. targeted, de-novo, and RNA-Seq approaches; Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence applications)

• Train personnel in basic to complex bioinformatic data analysis and troubleshooting techniques (e.g. R/Python, Linux).

• Apply fundamental understanding and knowledge to perform well defined tasks.

• Apply basic and advanced troubleshooting methods.

• Provide vision and direction to the development group while providing operation and technical expertise.

• Excellent writing and communication skills to provide clear consise updates and feedback for assigned tasks and projects.

• Gathers and organizes information at a basic level.

• Meets commitments on time, safely and with the highest quality.

• Seeks out opportunities and has a desire to learn both the technical aspects and Industrial Operations and Product Supply (IOPS) culture.

• Balances multiple tasks at a time.

• Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance (SCC) at all times.

Education and Experience:

• Requires experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science with Molecular Biology/Microbiology concentration, Molecular Biology /Microbiology with Computer Science/Bioinformatics concentrations, Software development, or related field with 0+ years equivalent experience of biotech or pharmaceutical industry in a GMP setting.

• Demonstrated research and working experience in bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing, database tools/technologies and organization of large scale data sets.
