Summary:
The Oncology Research group is currently seeking a highly motivated SR. R&D Specialist / R&D Specialist to join a dynamic team working on the generation and characterization of novel in vivo models of hematological malignancies as well as the preclinical validation of new hematological cancer targets.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate should be able to design and carry out complex in vivo mouse experiments. The candidate must have experience in collecting murine blood, bone marrow aspirates, and other tissues samples, and in performing multi-parameter flow cytometry. Ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of immunolgy and cancer biology, be able to independently execute experiments, and must be highly organized with an attention to details. The ability to work effectively in a team, good organizational and interpersonal skills, and basic computer skills (Word and Excel) are a must.
Responsibilities:
• xenograft patient leukemia and lymphoma samples into mice
• collect blood and bone marrow aspirates from small animals
• perform multiparameter flow cytometry and analysis
• perform sc, ip, iv injections
• experience with hematological patient-derive xenograft (PDX) models a plus
• perform necropsy
• data analysis
Requirements:
• BS/BA/MA in biomedical sciences + at least 3-5 years' experience working with in vivo mouse tumor models
• Expertise in multiparameter flow cytometry and data analysis with FlowJo
• Experience in xenograft patient leukemia samples and in administration of experimental therapies (iv, ip, sc injections)
• In vivo mouse experience including blood and bone marrow aspirates sampling
• Outstanding organizational skills with ability to manage and record details of multiple in vivo experiments simultaneously
• Aability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and adapt experimental design based on emerging data
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Competent in standard scientific software (eg. Excel and Prism) and basic computer skills (Word and Excel)
