FUNCTION: Planning & Analytics

LOCATION: Redwood City, CA
Position Summary:
The Business Analyst will be responsible for designing and delivering advanced quantitative data analyses to address strategic business questions related to biotech drug development and commercialization. They will work with internal partners to understand business needs and develop analytics plans to address them. The Business Analyst will also manage external analytics vendors, including onshore and offshore teams, to ensure project success against plans, adherence to timelines, and quality control. This role requires advanced technical skills, experience working with large syndicated healthcare datasets (Symphony Health, IQVIA, etc), and demonstrated ability to derive actionable insights from quantitative data analyses.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal partners to understand data gaps and strategic objectives, and prioritize business needs
• Develop a deep understanding of relevant market dynamics (treating specialties, competitors, etc) in multiple therapeutic areas to effectively design and execute analyses
• Apply analytical and statistical methods to large life science datasets (Symphony Health, IQVIA, EHR data, etc), to generate insights and answer a variety of business questions
• Manage day-to-day activities of external analytics vendors, including alignment on objectives, accurate implementation of business rules, and iterations on analyses
• Translate data into key business insights and help generate recommendations to inform product and company strategic decisions
• Communicate analytical results to non-technical audiences
• Provide technical/analytical expertise for applicable advanced analytical/statistical methodologies, programs, and projects
• Occasional travel required

Qualifications & Expertise:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, business, or life sciences is required; Master's degree is preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in management consulting, data analytics or similar roles in biotech / pharma
• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex analysis into strategic insights
• Expertise leveraging various syndicated healthcare data sources (Symphony, IQVIA, etc)
• Expertise in Excel is required; experience with advanced database manipulation tools (Alteryx, SAS, SQL, etc.) and/or statistical programs (Stata, R, etc.) is preferred
• Experience with onshore/offshore staffing model preferred
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Team player and collaborator with ability to operate in fast-paced, dynamic environment
