The Senior Manager, Global Field Medical Capabilities, will lead initiatives ensuring excellence in the Field Medical Organization. Responsible for all aspects related to field engagement, including global alignment and processes required to support field medical across the four corporate Operating Regions, identifying synergies and differentiating appropriate local solutions, and enhancing the global MSL (Medical Science Liaison) value proposition. This position will report to the Director, Global Field Medical Capabilities Lead, and will work closely with cross-functional and cross-geographic partners, including Regional Capability Leads, Global Medical Operations, Regional Medical Heads and TA Leads, Global Medical Affairs Leads, and Information Systems to inform and execute Field Medical strategies. This individual must have a future focus with regular horizon scanning for aspects related to the Field Medical Organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure global alignment and regional solutions achieve maximal MSL effectiveness across the four operating regions
  • Responsible for driving the implementation of an integrated engagement system, including stakeholder profiling, incorporation of scientific engagement plans, documentation of interactions, evaluation of analytics, and insight generation
  • Optimize the use of Field Medical Systems through review and coaching
  • Partner with TA Leads to improve insight generation at the local/regional/global level
  • Inform on the potential role of AI in Insight Generation
  • Identify opportunities and communicate results with Field Medical and Leadership
  • Partner with Global and Regional Medical Operations to drive evolution of MSL systems, processes and new technologies
  • Champion MSL initiatives and ideas from the field to headquarters
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional committees to develop and implement strategy related to MSL impact in the healthcare ecosystem
  • Model and implement a culture of cross-functional partnerships. Enhance global collaboration and create strong links with global/regional/local medical affairs teams
  • Develop and manage a Global Virtual Community for internal engagement and cooperation
  • Actively support and enhance the career development of employees within Field Medical; Identify opportunities to elevate and recognize top Field Medical colleagues
  • Partner with Global Learning and Performance training team to help determine strategy, content, and execution of training programs to enhance MSL effectiveness in the field
  • Ensure Global/Regional/Local input, appropriate prioritization of needs, and resource allocation to meet program goals on time and within budget
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures
  • Manage project-associated budgets and vendors
  • Approximately 10-15% travel

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of scientific or clinical experience
Master's degree and 6 years of scientific or clinical experience
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of scientific or clinical experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of scientific or clinical experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of scientific or clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO with 5 or more years of relevant experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs, Clinical Development, clinical research, patient care, and/or basic research
  • Prior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience and/or experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Development within the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Prior leadership experience leading MSL teams, leading/managing project teams, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • An understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and knowledge of the different geographical regulatory and legal guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), time management, project planning, aptitude in presenting on scientific and clinical data, and strong ability for self-direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into clear, understandable operational plans in a matrix environment with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in teams and interface in a dynamic environment across corporate functions and geographies
