Amgen is seeking an Associate Scientist in Bioprocess Development to join our team and work from Amgen's beautiful Cambridge, Massachusetts site in the heart of Kendall Square. This position will be within a Pivotal Drug Substance Process Development subgroup, and work within a drug substance development team to support commercial advancement of Amgen's various modalities, such as, Bi-specific T-cell engagers, bi-specific antibodies, and monoclonal antibodies.

  • Responsible for developing cell culture and bioreactor processes for pipeline molecules and/or technology development initiatives
  • Participate on drug substance development teams as a team member or primary department representative
  • Involve mainly bench and pilot-scale process development experimental activities, data documentation, as well as technology transfer to manufacturing facilities
  • Work in a team environment, collaborate with various colleagues in process and product development/engineering
  • Analyze and interpret data with sound scientific understanding, and present data to the broader team as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree and 2 years of scientific experience


Bachelor's degree and 4 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biomedical engineering, or Bioprocessing discipline
  • 3+ years of biotech/pharma industry experience with emphasis on cell culture process development, protein production in various mammalian expression hosts.
  • Strong laboratory skills supporting cell culture and bioreactor operations, good scientific understanding and data analysis capability.
  • Good working knowledge and experience of protein purification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work flexibly in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
