- Lead the development of all external communications strategies, programs and materials, including corporate positioning, strategy, and identity
- Develop Precision BioSciences corporate narrative and short- and long-term positioning, for key stakeholders and channels, and evolving communications strategy in alignment with business changes
- Assist in the drafting of press releases, scripts, speeches, slide presentations, key messages/Q&A, fact sheets, website updates, and briefing documents
- Serve as a key media contact, building and maintaining relationships with journalists and reporters
- Develop, implement and maintain appropriate metrics to monitor Precision BioSciences visibility, external reputation, and impact of all communications efforts
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the companys Senior Leadership Team regarding communications strategies and tactics, ensuring alignment with Precision BioSciences long-term strategy
- Ensure communications alignment by working cross-functionally with investor relations, business development, R&D/clinical, medical affairs, regulatory, human resources, and legal
- Play a significant role in risk management by developing proactive and reactive corporate communications strategies to address issues that may affect the businesss reputation, including establishing protocols for crisis management
- Oversee all corporate social media and website activities including planning, creating, and distributing content as a key tool for outreach/awareness to the external community including patients, prospective partners, and potential employees
- Plan and organize media activities at scientific and business conferences, including preparation of management for interviews with media and other key corporate communications interactions
- Create, update, and maintain corporate calendar of key events, corporate communications policies, and social media guidelines, and lead internal training to ensure understanding
- Assure information is compliant with all FDA regulations and product promotion guidelines, SEC regulations, and adheres to Regulation FD
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
- 12+ years of successful work experience in corporate communications or public relations roles, with direct experience leading Corporate Communications at a public biotech company; advanced scientific degree (PharmD, MD, or PhD) a plus
- Demonstrated ability to develop a corporate communications strategy for external audiences
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills with proven track-record of translating complex scientific and clinical concepts into powerful corporate messages
- Established relationships and credibility with top tier biopharma journalists and local and national business media, with demonstrated skill in achieving high-impact placements
- Proven ability to work effectively and confidently at the C-suite level, managing tight deadlines and executing flawlessly under pressure
- Strong collaborative skills with proven success influencing external and internal groups, contributing to cross functional teams and coordinating with PR agencies and vendors
- Highly independent and motivated with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically in a fast-paced environment
- Experience creating and managing budgets
- Advanced knowledge of multi-media communications platforms
- Understanding of FDA regulations impacting communications
Travel Requirements
- The Senior Director, Corporate Communications will be expected to travel when needed, both domestically and internationally. Travel is not expected to be more than 30%.
