We are currently looking for an Associate Director, Project Management, to join our Research Division, for Bristol Myers Squibb in Redwood City, CA. The successful candidate will play an integral role as a key team member in supporting our research programs.

Specific Responsibilities

Partner with research leads to manage the development and execution of project team strategy and to optimize team effectiveness in achieving program objectives in alignment with timelines.

As an essential member of the Discovery Working Groups (DWG), work with team leadership to ensure aligned development plans.

Establish and maintain functionally integrated project schedules to enable accurate project timelines.

Support project sub-teams as needed and ensure alignment with project sub-teams and functional partners.

Facilitate core team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders.

Ensure core team activities and decisions are clearly communicated, documented and archived, act as a primary contact for project team related information.

Identify, recommend, and manage the implementation of process and other improvements; whether pertinent to departmental and/or site.

Provide or drive immediate and accurate communication of key decisions/results that have team, asset, and/or organizational impact.

This individual will also be responsible for discovery project effectiveness under the one oncology umbrella across sites which will include coordinating scientific leadership meetings within Redwood City as well as across the different sites.

Requirements

BS, MS, MBA, PhD, or other advanced degree in a physical or natural science with 5 or more years of project management experience in the Discovery and/or pharmaceutical industry. A strong scientific background and familiarity with discovery drug development is desirable.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team which include Discovery, Translational Medicine, and early/late Development governance and other key functions.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, delivery and reporting and experience in handling multiple projects.

Ability to anticipate risks and identify issues and to troubleshoot and create solutions, balancing portfolio and asset needs.

Strong communication skills, and ability to communicate with stakeholders from diverse functional areas.

Strong ability to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency.

Comfort with ambiguity and complexity required; must be open to work across multiple projects and modalities simultaneously.

Strong interpersonal skills with polish and presence; ability to influence others at all levels and lead in a matrixed organization.

Build and manage relationships with key cross-matrix stakeholders. Demonstrate influence across Discovery, TM, and R&D functional leadership. Build and integrate the Translational Strategy into the DWG

Utilize project management tools to build and sustain high performing cross functional teams.
