The Neuroscience department at our Cambridge, Massachusetts location is looking for an undergrad student interested in a 6 month co-op assignment. The co-op will help execute a variety of experiments and assays to support Alzheimer's disease discovery research.

These activities will include:

  • Mammalian cell culture and/or processing of animal tissue
  • Standard biochemical assays such as Western blot, ELISA and immunocytochemistry
  • Analysis and presentation of data


Amgen will provide the co-op with the opportunity to learn how to use state-of-the art equipment, gain valuable insights into drug discovery and make a significant contribution to our knowledge of neurodegeneration.

Relocation in the form of a miscellaneous allowance will be provided for eligible candidates.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

Degree concentration(s) in the biological sciences (Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience)

Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Previous laboratory and cell culture experience strongly preferred

Highly self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to learn

Independent critical thinking and problem solving

Strong and flexible team player

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
