Job Summary

The Director of Clinical Specialist (CS) provides key clinical leadership across the country to support commercial goals and objectives. The Clinical Specialist's primary responsibility is to support key US Commercial Strategic Imperatives: identifying patients with ADA-SCID or MLD generating demand with treating physicians, ensuring appropriate utilization and access to treatment. The incumbent will support these strategic imperatives through disease and diagnostics education of Health Care Providers and patients in the therapeutic area across the nation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Leading the strategic partnership with the US Sales organization
  • Leading strategic initiatives geared towards developing external support with HCPs
  • Identifying and developing Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
  • Collaborate with the VP of Commercial Operations to identify and develop Plan of Action for Prioritized KOLs nationally
    (MDs, RNs, mid-levels, GC's)
  • Train KOLs on approved Disease, Diagnosis and treatment educational material through development of speakers bureau
    when approved
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with KOLs across the country to provide ongoing, new clinical information
  • Ensures cooperative collaborative communication with cross functional teams (marketing, sales management, sales,
    diagnostic, patient services and medical affairs)
  • Identifying and facilitating disease, diagnosis and treatment case studies
  • Recruitment and Follow up with HCP and Patient advisory board attendees
  • Work as key contact with agency on SOWs and building data content for ad board slide library
  • Manage budgets outlined in SOWs
  • Review slides with all faculty prior to advisory boards
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to identify patients across the country that represent opportunities for targeted case
    study development that may eventually be used for educational or publication purposes
  • Collaborate with internal departments on educational programs, tools and messages
  • Assist in developing slide decks to be presented during programs and speaker training events
  • Work closely with US/Global Marketing to provide feedback on educational campaign and/or specific tactics/resources for
    patient and HCP advisory boards, marketing materials, slide presentations utilized by KOL's and CTL team.
  • Involvement in sales training as clinical expert and development of training tools
  • Continuous assessment of needed training and/or training materials for CTL team
  • Achieves or exceeds objectives in all regions across the country
  • Develops, Leads and Facilitates meetings where appropriate
  • Conducts regular business reviews with senior leadership to ensure attainment of corporate objectives, alignment of goals,
    and personal development plans of employees.
  • Conducts, semi-annual performance reviews to provide accurate and timely feedback regarding goal attainment and
    professional development.


  • Requirements

    Education and Training
    • B.A./B.S. in business or scientific field is required.
    • Master's or Healthcare Degree (NP, PA-C,RN) with previous clinical experience preferred

    Skills/Previous Experience
    • 8 plus years' experience in pharmaceutical industry, with significant biotech experience required.
    • The CTL will comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of activities in general and this role in particular.
    • Experience in specialty sales, with paediatric haematology, neurology/genetics and/or rare disease experience preferred.
    • 5+ years field-based experience in biopharmaceutical industry preferred
    • Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targeted objectives
    • Market knowledge preferred: Accounts, KOLs, Referral patterns
    • Effective verbal and written communication and organizational abilities.
    • Demonstrates strong in-depth clinical, technical and scientific knowledge in complex disease state.
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
    • Deliver Presentations to Executive Leadership Team
