The Senior Director, Strategic Clinical Operations combines knowledge of the drug development process with expertise in compliance, training and standards to enable effective execution of business processes and cross functional initiatives. Strategically partners with functional stakeholders to assess compliance, training and business process standard's needs and directs the related development of strategy and execution. Directs the oversight and evolution of the business process ownership model

Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversees direction, planning and execution of the Compliance, Training and Standards, Process Excellence and the Systems & Metrics groups, associated liaisons and the Business Process Owner model.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities and monitors the effectiveness of key relationships including functions within Development and across R&D.
  • Oversees operational aspects and compliance matters associated with the ongoing management of AbbVie studies.
  • Develops and implements innovative processes and systems to continuously monitor and improve compliance and timeliness.
  • Provides senior leaders with meaningful measurements around our compliance efforts and determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
  • Leads and manages multiple groups, approves organizational structure and supervisory relationships. Provide direction and guidance to all levels of personnel, evaluations performance and assists in career development of subordinates. Ensures future leaders are in place to continue the evolution of the organization.
  • Creates and sustains environment that attracts, develops and retains talent. Develops an infrastructure that is resourced with people, processes, systems and vendors to support an evolving organization.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare or regulated industry preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in a leadership role with strong management skills in a complex matrix environment, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in leading collaborative, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, business acumen and negotiation skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities, analyze issues and deliver fit for purpose solutions
  • Ability to lead change/transformation
