Amgen is searching for a Senior Manager of Accounting on its Global Accounting team. This role will report to the Director of Global Accounting Operations. The Senior Manager will be based out of the Puerto Rico office.

This role will lead and develop a team of 5 individuals in the Global Cost & Operations Accounting group, and will lead a team of offshore individuals who support this area through our outsourced vendor Genpact located in Kolkata, India.

Primary responsibilities will include the following:
  • Provide leadership to the team to execute on all accounting and reporting activities, related to inventory, reserves, and transfer pricing for Amgen's manufacturing network, and to ensure US GAAP and other statutory reporting compliance in the related areas.
  • Partner with groups, such as FP&A, Supply Chain, Corporate Tax, Disbursements, and I.S. to ensure accurate accounting of inventory.
  • Work with accounting management regarding accurate application of US GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as lead contact for Corporate External Reporting, Corporate Audit, External Auditors, and Tax Compliance to provide audit/reporting support and analysis.
  • Lead ERP and automation, including Robotics Process Automation, implementations related to Cost & Operations Accounting to ensure accurate design, documentation, testing, and training of personnel.

Basic qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree AND 2 years of finance or technical accounting experience
  • Master's degree AND 6 years of finance or technical accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree or AND 8 years of finance or technical accounting experience
  • 2 years of managerial experience directly handling people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA
  • Audit or Big 4 Public Accounting experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong technical US GAAP knowledge in the area of Inventory
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills and be able to bridge culture differences
  • Detail oriented; strong business analytical skills
  • Ability to take initiative perform with minimum level of direction in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to lead projects and work with cross-functional teams
  • Team/Contractor supervision experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with the general ledger system (SAP)
  • Industry experience
