Summary:
The RGC's Genome Informatics team leads the primary and secondary analysis of more than 500,000 samples a year, including production pipelines, cloud-compute infrastructure, and sequencing and variant quality control. Working closely with other RGC teams, our extensive genomics R&D portfolio supports multi-omics applications (RNA, long reads), unprecedented-scale variant calling, disease association studies, and loci-specific analyses that directly impact cutting-edge drug development.
Under the direction of the QC lead, this entry-level role will support our efforts to develop, deploy and execute at-scale quality control protocols for both production and R&D experiments.
Responsibilities:
• Support all GI efforts to QC and analyze the world's largest genomic dataset
• Preprare, validate and execute large-scale NGS analysis in cloud (AWS, GCP) and distributed compute infrastructure (SPARK)
• Provide routine visualization of QC metrics, compute performance, and resource usage for RGC production
• Support QC lead in validating production innovation
• Create and develop in silico NGS standards and best practices
• Work with GI leads to apply predictive models (e.g. machine learning) to QC metrics and analysis
Requirements:
• Bachelors in Computer Science or similar with minimum 1-3+ years relevant experience
• Unix, Python
• Visualization toolkit (R, Pandas)
• Code repositories (GitHub, Sourceforge, Bitbucket)
• Preferred: Standard bioinformatics tools (Samtools, BCFtools, VCFtools, BWA, GATK, Picard, BEDtools, PLINK)
• Preferred: DNAnexus or other cloud experience
