Job Details

The department of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism (PKDM) within Amgen is dedicated to the discovery and development of novel, effective, safe medicines. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to characterize the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of therapeutic drug candidates to achieve their full pharmacological potential. PKDM works in close partnership with disciplines such as pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to design promising clinical therapeutic candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.

The responsibilities of a PKDM Principle Scientist are to develop staff, lead scientific strategy across the PKDM department, and build relationship across functions within the larger Research organization. The responsibilities will include data interpretation, communication of results, and contribution to decision making on project teams in support of drug discovery and development, as well as impacting the external scientific community.

The candidate will be responsible for leading the quantitative analytical efforts across range of molecular entities in support of both drug discovery and early development programs. The candidate should also be able to assist in troubleshooting when instrument or assay problems arise.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 3 years Scientific experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years Scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years Scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Possesses personal leadership qualities that inspire trust, respect, credibility and confidence of peers and colleagues

Skilled in analytical chemistry including but limited to ligand-binding assays and mass spectrometry

Hands on experience with lab LIMS systems, e.g. WATSON

Expertise in design and execution of pharmacokinetic studies

Independent problem-solver with critical thinking capabilities

Excellent oral and written communication skill

Proven ability to design and execute pharmacokinetic experiments to characterize and quantify critical ADME parameters

An excellent understanding of bioanalytical techniques and an individual that can work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment
