The role­­­

Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Finance who will play a key role in the Operations Finance team in Puerto Rico. This highly motivated individual will be primarily responsible for developing and executing financial analysis and business analytics. The Senior Associate Finance will provide vital site support for cross-functional financial, analytical and ­­­­­reporting activities. This role will interact with a wide range of leadership and staff across Amgen.

Provide financial, analytical and decision-making support to the Operations organization.

The department

The Operations Finance team is in charge of the financial planning, reporting, and analysis for Amgen's Operations area, which is responsible for Amgen's manufacturing activities. The team settles cost of operations and establishes standard costs, analyzes results, monitors variances and identifies trends to provide advice to management for decision-making. We are a highly motivated team with strong eye for business and dedication to continuous improvement.

Additional job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Advanced financial modeling and data analysis to support business transformation
  • Provide key support on multiple projects; formulate and clearly deliver information, issues and recommendations in both written and oral presentations
  • Interact with various finance groups including functional Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to understand impact to budget/long range plans
  • Supports efficiency initiatives through reporting, tracking, and savings analysis
  • Track financials and prepare periodic reports for ongoing initiatives
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and support special projects
  • Prepare, analyze and present operating expense forecasts and results for various department managers
  • Provides recommendations and communicates implications based on analysis of deviation from budget
  • Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end reporting, audit support, and ad hoc analysis
  • Develops performance measurements used to support management reporting and cost analysis
  • Support extended hours, as per business needs
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree
Or

Bachelor's degree & 2 years of experience in finance or accounting

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ Years of experience in Finance & Analysis, Accounting within the manufacturing industry
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and present results to senior management in a professional, clear and concise manner
  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion and/or other large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and consolidation tools
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle multiple deliverables
  • Detail oriented and able to balance fast paced environment while delivering timely results
  • Ability to utilize available tools to simplify financial processes and activities
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills (English and Spanish)
  • Exceptional social skills; influence at all levels, functions and geographies
  • Comfortable supporting a wide range of client levels
  • Ability to demonstrate judgment and make appropriate recommendations
  • Energetic, detailed oriented, and highly motivated
