Job Details

The Department of Oncology at Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to perform research studies aimed at elucidating mechanisms of immune-mediated regulation of tumorigenesis for developing novel immunomodulatory therapies for the treatment of cancer. S/he will be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Inflammation, Therapeutic Discovery, and Medical Sciences.

Position Responsibilities
Make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals of the department, present results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication

Specific responsibilities include formulating hypothesis, designing and performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and communicating results

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree completed by December 2019
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

PhD degree with expertise in one or more of the following areas: myeloid cell biology, in vivo models of cancer and/or inflammation, molecular immunology, multi-color flow cytometry, isolation and culture of primary cells, genetic manipulation of cell lines and/ or primary cells, establishing complex cell-based functional assays, bioinformatics analysis
Demonstrated track record of scientific research achievement, creativity, and independent critical thinking, as shown by a strong publication record and/ or significant contributions to a therapeutic development program
Strong communication and collaboration skills
