We are seeking a scientist to join our Oncology Translational Bioinformatics group. This group of computational scientists is responsible for advancing Bristol-Myers Squibb's industry-leading Oncology pipeline through the strategic application of cutting-edge bioinformatics approaches. The scientists in this group design experiments and analyze molecular data sets, including RNA-Seq, Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing, single-cell sequencing, high-throughput proteomics, and multiplex flow cytometry in order to nominate novel drug targets, enable patient enrichment strategies, and guide drug development decisions. The group interacts with and influences all aspects of R&D at BMS, from early discovery through late-stage development as a key part of our Translational Medicine group.

This position is in the Analytics Innovation team. As part of the Analytics Innovation team, you will seek out new approaches and data sources to fill data and information gaps. You will have the opportunity to work in the fast-paced and dynamic field of real-world data and apply information from real-world populations to answer key questions in translational medicine. You will develop new approaches to integrate different data sources with BMS clinical data.

We are looking for a creative thinker who likes to dive into messy data and try new things. In particular, we are seeking a scientist with a strong aptitude and excitement to attempt new data analysis and data visualization approaches. Equally important is a passion for communicating results, sharing ideas, and teaching others, regardless of their background or familiarity with data and analytics.


Define and execute analysis plans to address scientific questions using internal and external datasets.

Be a subject matter expert for molecular real-world data and support the larger data strategy efforts across BMS.

Collaborate with bioinformaticians, statisticians, biologists and clinicians to drive the incorporation of new scientific ideas and results.

Communicate results to key stakeholders and contribute to scientific publications.


Ph.D. in bioinformatics, engineering, statistics, molecular biology, genetics, or similar with 0+ years of industry experience.

Proficiency in at least one programming language such as R or Python. We use R for most day-to-day work.

Experience analyzing high-dimensional molecular datasets such as RNA-Seq, Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing, single-cell sequencing, high-throughput proteomics, and multiplex flow cytometry.

Working knowledge of statistical tests and machine learning algorithms and their application to health care datasets.

Strong communication, data presentation and visualization skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to handle several concurrent, fast-paced projects.

Background in Oncology/Immuno-Oncology and/or experience working with patient data is a plus.
