Amgen is seeking an excellent science and technology driven Business Analyst to join our Research Informatics team which delivers business-critical scientific solutions that drive Amgen's innovation in drug discovery. The outstanding candidate will understand the drug development pipeline with proven success delivering consistent high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. This Business Analyst position will be part of a multi-functional agile team supporting Research.

The Senior Associate IS Business Systems Analyst will join our multi-site Research Informatics team based at one of the North American Research campuses: Thousand Oaks, South San Francisco, Cambridge or Burnaby.

Responsibilities
  • Shape and influence the Research Informatics portfolio and backlog through: Business partner engagement and requirements gathering, conducting business analysis and translating requirements and needs into high-value solutions
  • Effectively communicate with business and IS partners to ensure alignment and effective use of the delivered solutions
  • As an active member of an agile team, translate research needs into a prioritized backlog of actionable user stories, with a focus on continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Apply technical skills and proficiency with data (modelling, querying, analysis and reporting) to understand business needs from a data-first perspective and to deliver high quality solutions
  • Understand scientific applications and resolve complex issues reported by business partners; work with engineers, vendors and support teams to identify root causes and bring issues to successful resolutions


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

OR

Associate's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High School diploma/GED and 6 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a successful IS business analyst supporting research in the Pharma / Biotech industry
  • Ability to translate business needs into a backlog of user stories to deliver solutions to drive drug discovery decisions
  • Demonstrated learning agility, ability to pick up new domain knowledge and technology skills
  • Experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks
  • Experience with analytics and visualization technologies (Spotfire, Tableau, Salesforce)
  • Solid team player with ability to work in a cross-site collaborative team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively promote and negotiate business cases or ideas and to influence partners using data and insights
  • Experience in data modeling and querying using relational databases running SQL (e.g. Oracle)
  • Experience supporting and managing solutions that are deployed in Cloud (e.g., AWS) environments
  • Experience working within an agile methodology and DevOps framework
  • Experience in software development languages including but not limited to Java and C#
