Senior Manager, Operational Excellence

The Senior Manager, Operational Excellence will report to the Associate Director, Business Operations Support at the Kite Oceanside viral vector manufacturing site (MVP-01). This position will implement the Operational Excellence program at MVP-01, operating across the pillars of the program: daily improvement activities, projects/kaizen, OpEx training/knowledge, and performance management. The successful candidate will implement the program by working on a daily basis with floor-level teams as well as site management to setup and execute their individual programs. They will also help guide OE project teams and assist with training employees on OE tools and techniques.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager will deliver the following objectives:

• Setup and/or facilitate tiered team huddles and manage the data derived from them

• Develop, implement, and support use of OE tools throughout the site, including:

-Visual Controls / Performance Boards

-Standard Work / Leader Standard Work

-7 Wastes / Value Stream Mapping

-5S

-Root Cause Analysis

-Kanban

-Kaizen events

-Mistake-proofing

• Develop, process, and track metrics from floor level to senior management and ensure the connections between them are well-understood and documented

• Support and manage complex process improvement projects

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

• 7-10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing and operational excellence (experience in pharma/biotech industry is a plus)

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (MBA or other Masters-level education is a plus).

• Proven Operational Excellence/Lean skills, with strong track record of driving continuous improvement (Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification preferred)

• Ability to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively, facilitate discussions, influence effectively and develop relationships;

Ability to drive efforts and projects through relationships and a broad knowledge base.

• Self-motivated, proactive and responsive, highly organized, results-oriented and attentive to detail

• Strong presentation and communication skills
