Kite, a Gilead Company, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel cancer immunotherapy products designed to harness the power of a patient's own immune system to selectively target and kill cancer cells. Our core technology involves the genetic engineering of T cells, or white blood cells, to express either chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) or T cell receptors (TCRs) for the treatment of advanced solid and hematological malignancies. We are seekinga qualified professional to join our team as a Global Commissioning Lead. The successful candidate will possess broad expertise in the field of commissioning and the construction turn over process.

This position will also require Leadership Skills to contribute to our journey to become a World Class Engineering organization. This position requires independent analysis and personal initiative to meet the all project needs. Duties include (but are not limited to) leading building commissioning to insure the delivery of a high performance building, project management, and integration of our Engineering Management Systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Strong demonstrated leadership skills in change management related to the Commissioning of new facility systems and the Retro-Commissioning of existing systems.

• Strong leadership skills in the development of a commissioning program.

• Strong understanding of the transition of Commissioning to Qualification.

• Working understanding an integrated Commissioning and Qualification program and ASTM E2500.

• Team Leadership skills and Strategic development of the Goals and Vision to insure we relentlessly deliver value for Kite Pharma.

• Demonstrated leadership in rolling out new initiatives across the enterprise.

• Responsible for setting standards for processes to standardize commissioning delivery methodology.

• Build and develop the culture using continuous improvement methodology.

• Consult with other sites and departments to improve Operational Excellence.

• Direct and implement activities for continuous improvement of commissioning in support of project delivery.

• Oversee the contracted vendors performing activities related to project commissioning and contract administration:

• Developing and coordinating commissioning plans and system test procedures.

• Reviewing and approving functional performance tests.

• Conducting field observations.

• Work with contractors, clients, consulting engineers, architects, and their representatives to insure delivery of high performance buildings.

• Work will include both documentation in the office and in the field based on observations.

• Prepare commissioning field reports and maintain commissioning deficiency logs.

• Through system turnover walk downs and execution of verification of Validation checks, assure a quality high performance building is accepted from construction and turned over to the Facilities Operations.


• BS degree in Engineering and minimum 12 years of relevant experience in related field.

• A MA/MBA degree can be substituted for 2 years of related experience or 6 years' experience with a Ph.D.

• Strong practical background of commercial and R&D buildings, automation controls and LEED certification is preferred.

• Competency with all Microsoft Office products.

• BlueCielo Meridian Engineering Document Management system and Blue Mountain experience is a plus.

• Ability to influence across all levels and organizations.
