We are seeking a Associate Director, EH&S.

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for providing and promoting environmental health and safety leadership. Closely collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain and General Administrative units.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Build and manage a team; provide necessary training and ongoing coaching, discipline and recognition of direct staff, including performing annual performance reviews
  • Work and act as an agent of change while working effectively to ensure compliance and implement best practices as appropriate
  • Build a world class EH&S program and culture by assessing risk, implementing preventative measures, illness and injury investigating, and resolving issues, identifying root cause, and proposing improvements to senior management
  • Ensure a implementation on a world class Safety program that includes Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Fall Protection, Crane Safety, Electrical Safety, Hot Work, Work Permit and related processes, Machine and tool Safety, Vehicle Safety, Elevated / roof work safety, and other programs as needed
  • Collaborating with technical and operational stakeholders to resolve EH&S events and issues
  • Trends key EH&S performance metrics
  • Participates in internal audit/inspection
  • Administer Ergonomic, Occupational health, MDSD, Hazard identification and mitigation, Sustainability programs
  • Ensures compliance with Federal and State EH&S regulations and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains, provides and ensure staff complies with general and program specific EH&S training.
  • May lead and/or manage sustainability, safety, and or environmental projects
  • Serves on the Emergency Response Team requiring periodic 24 hour on-call rotation
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by Management

Knowledge and Skills
  • Self-starter with superior analysis and problem solving skills ranging from simple to complex situations
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Demonstrates proficiency in current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communications skills to explain information and influence others to secure successful implementation of EH&S programs and directives as assigned.
  • Knowledge on OSHA, DOT, NSF, NEC and NFPA

Requirements:
  • BS or BA in in safety related fields or equivalent and 12+ years of experience, or a MS in Safety Management and a minimum of 10+ year of relevant experience.
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience
  • Knowledge of cGMP compliance
  • Possesses good communication skills to promote cross function discussions and communications
  • Experience leading cross functional teams to obtain project deliverables
  • Experience with investigation and root cause analysis tools
  • Working knowledge of scientific and engineering principles
  • Skilled at creating and delivering presentations
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Presentation, Access, and Project
  • Certified Green Belt, Black Belt or similar is a plus
  • Has previous experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry.
  • Experience with implementation/execution of ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001 and Process Safety Management(PSM)
  • Experience on Risk assessment and Risk management program (EMP)
  • Experience in construction safety and green field start up
  • Certification such as CSP or CIH is preferred
  • Business travel will be required.
