Kite Pharma, a division of Gilead, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Finance Director supporting the Kite Technical Operations team. The position is based in Santa Monica, California and fills a critical role within the Technical Operations Finance leadership team. The role will report to the Executive Director Technical Operations Finance, while supporting the Global Manufacturing and Site Quality operations and the Senior Vice President Manufacturing. This role will support Kite's commercial and clinical operations across the globe including sites and direct reports in Southern California, Maryland, and Netherlands.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Working cross functionally to ensure that business performance is optimized
  • Supporting Global Tech Ops finances, including but not limited to Budgets, Latest Estimates, Standard and Actual Costing of commercial and clinical products, and Capital Planning and Expenditures
  • Working with senior management to produce budgets and forecasts that are supported with rigorous assumptions
  • Counseling the SVP Manufacturing on all key business decisions
  • Keeping abreast of business issues by monitoring and understanding changes in business environment particularly as they relate to Cell Therapy
  • Championing compliance across the organization while accounting for country specific financial regulations and controls
  • Ensuring the relationship between the business and the CFO organization is proactive and focused on improving process efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensuring the highest standards of financial control and compliance in-line with Kite's controllership function and with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Building, leading and developing a high quality finance team ensuring staff have robust and stretch development plans
  • Setting strategic direction for Tech Ops Finance
  • Ensuring standard costing is implemented across all regions and all indications.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Oracle ERP upgrade and integration (currently underway over the next 12 months) which includes Product Costing and Project Accounting.
  • Other responsibilities include ad hoc analysis including business case analysis


Key Attributes
  • Strong technical international finance experience including US GAAP
  • Previous experience in senior manufacturing finance and cost accounting roles with a strong aptitude for business partnership within a senior management team
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, management and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multiple functions
  • Ability to lead and influence cross functional teams
  • Builds the best team to support a growing network of manufacturing sites
  • Excellent written and spoken language skills

    Qualifications
  • 12 years of relevant experience and a BA or BS degree
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Strong people management experience, financial and business acumen, and manufacturing finance experience
  • Experience building a team from the ground up
  • Experience in a multi-national company
  • Pharmaceutical or Biotech experience preferred
  • ERP implementation experience preferred
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle skills required
  • Minimal travel (10% annually)
