The Associate Director of Advanced Analytics Services is responsible for managing and executing the delivery of all technically advanced analytics deliverables to internal Ipsen customers. Reporting to the Director of Business Analytics, the individual in this role will operate as an individual contributor, leverage internal Ipsen resources, or work with external vendors to drive analytic insights that require sophisticated statistical methodologies.

Working cross-functionally, the individual who fills this role will help qualify, prioritize, and execute the delivery of all advanced analytic work that aligns with Ipsen's strategic business objectives. As a data science thought leader, the Associate Director of Advanced Analytics is ultimately responsible for the strategic expansion of the portfolio of methodologies available for data-driven insight generation at Ipsen. Working closely with Integrated Insights, this role will be responsible to translate the analytics plan across brands into appropriate models with the appropriate execution plan.

The scope of this role includes execution of analyses around marketing and channel mix, resource optimization, ROI, and digital analytics. Comfort working with longitudinal de-identified patient and provider level data is a must. Moreover, the ability to tie granular clinical behavior with operational metrics from the field will help ensure your insights are impactful.

Essential Functions


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manage and execute data projects from across the organization using advanced data science (e.g., marketing and channel mix, resource optimization, ROI, digital analytics, and predictive patient and provider level analyses)
  • Recommend the addition of new techniques to the Business Analytics portfolio based on strategic goals of the organization and gaps in current capabilities
  • Interface with Integrated Insights team to design, produce, and present new analyses for brand and other functional teams
  • Communicate the implications and value of insights generated from pilot analyses to Ipsen stakeholders using high-quality data visualizations
  • Train other members of the Business Analytics team to regularly perform advanced analyses that demonstrate value and feasibility in pilot projects
  • Continuously improve the utilization of Ipsen data sources by using advanced analytical techniques to proactively identify quality issues or potentially valuable new insights
  • Monitor and report the performance of data analytics vendors
  • Communicate report findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders as needed
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree or doctorate in quantitative field preferred

  • 7+ years of pharmaceuticals and life sciences experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis preferred

Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)
  • Ability to propose, evaluate, and implement leading-edge techniques in data science to address operational challenges in the pharmaceutical industry using statistical packages such as R, SAS, or SPSS
  • Ability to curate data to develop advanced predictive models and then explain your analyses and concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior Ipsen executives
  • Detailed knowledge of common data sets used to track performance in commercial life sciences (e.g., SP, SD, 3PL, claims data, EHR data, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of commercial aspects of the pharmaceuticals market; including brand management, supply chain, sales planning and execution, market access, and reimbursement challenges
  • Able to manage multiple competing projects and to prioritize work based on needs of the organization
