POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of the Site Project Management Office (PMO), the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading Manufacturing Site Priority 1/Priority 2 (P1/P2) projects for the Syracuse site. The role includes project managing a diverse portfolio of Strategic, Capital, Process Improvement and Productivity projects to support the commercial manufacturing of biologics products. The individual will have frequent exposure to senior management as they execute projects that shape the overall site strategy. The individual will utilize Project Management Framework (PMF) to provide standard project management processes, guidelines and templates to manage and deliver projects in a consistent and effective way while focusing on safety, quality, schedule, and budget. This position will also manage a team of Project Managers and will execute the portfolio utilizing the PMO team and other functional PMs in the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate PMO Governance meetings, manage site and capital portfolios.
  • Develop project tracking and KPI dashboards and tools to support project managers and site KPIs, including scope, budget and resources.
  • Lead planning and execution of Site P1/P2 projects as project manager. Projects may include, but are not limited to, strategic run-the-business initiatives, capital projects, process improvements and productivity improvements.
  • Directly manage a team of project managers to execute the site portfolio.
  • Coach site project managers on project management tools and framework to improve project management capabilities of the site.
  • Manage portfolio resource requirements and provide support to site management
  • Define project team and project management resource requirements.
  • Proactively identify, facilitate resolution and escalate issues.
  • Leads project activities including kickoff meetings, recurring status meetings, reporting, risk tracking, steering committee meetings, and conflict resolution.
  • Develops and drives detailed plans, identifying critical path and timing while meeting strategic intent and achieving key milestones.
  • Manage resources to attain project deliverables and coordinate project communication for all stakeholders.
  • Ensure problem solving and decision making addressing major risks and issues by identifying, documenting, resolving, communicating or escalating to senior leadership when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to manage expectations.
  • Drive consistency in project management tools and templates in line with PMO best practices and project management fundamentals while focusing on safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop project communications strategy, approach and plan.
  • Foster diverse/inclusive high performance teams and maintain strong relationships with operational and functional leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, etc:

Demonstrated experience of managing to deliverables and milestones: on time/within budget while meeting business needs. Experience in project management involving cross-functional teams in a matrix organization. Experience with manufacturing sites and staff. Ability to achieve results and exercise influence across a global matrix organization (e.g., operations, facilities and engineering, manufacturing technology, quality, supply chain, finance). Ability to work independently with high level of accountability. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and have the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management. Strong analytical skills, data aggregation and analysis, and presentation skills. Well organized and capable of managing multiple projects with respect to priorities. Previous people manager experience desirable.

Education/Experience/ Licenses/Certifications:
  • B.S. in engineering, science or technical discipline, advanced degree preferred
  • PMP certification highly desirable.
  • Understanding of cGMPs.
  • 5-10 years of increasing experience in operations including project and/or portfolio management
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, laboratory, manufacturing facilities, utilities and infrastructure, construction, maintenance, and/or operations is preferred.
  • Proficiency with project management applications, Microsoft applications, and data tools, e.g. MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Spotfire, Tableau


Physical Demands:
  • This position is an office based position that may require entry into laboratory/manufacturing spaces that requires appropriate levels of personal protective equipment (PPE). Office-based work requires sitting and repetitive use of arms/hands/wrists, especially when working with a computer.


Work Environment:
  • This position is located at a medium scale manufacturing facility with classified areas requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).


Travel:
  • This position may require up to 5% of travel
