Associate Tax Director, International

The Associate Tax Director, International will have global tax compliance, planning, and tax accounting responsibilities impacting AbbVie's business and operations. The Associate Tax Director will monitor and analyze proposed and newly enacted tax legislation and developments to ensure adequate procedures are in place to minimize and accurately report corporate taxes.

The Associate Tax Director will manage and review the tax accounting implications of cross-border transactions, international mergers and foreign business expansions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in the development and implementation of worldwide tax planning strategies that optimize AbbVie's effective tax rate for financial reporting purposes.
• Assist in developing tax-planning strategies to assist in achieving optimal tax profile on AbbVie's operations
• Assist with the structuring of international business transactions both with affiliates and third parties to ensure global tax optimization.
• Assist in the preparation and review of responses to the IRS' IDRs related to the US taxation of AbbVie's international operations
• Manage and review third party agreements, including license & co-promotion agreements
• Develop and mentor staff so that the Tax Division is not only stronger technically but also to develop future leaders.
• Provide technical support to Tax Compliance, Transfer Pricing, and Tax CoE Teams.
• Manage and direct outside advisors including local tax attorneys, big four accounting firms and economists.

This position will report to the International Tax Senior Director and will work cross functionally with various members other AbbVie departments and businesses. This position will be expected to participate in various internal meetings with other AbbVie tax personnel, the International Tax VP, VP Tax, VP Controller, VP Financial Reporting and Treasurer.

Basic:

• Master of Science in Accounting/Tax preferred with a CPA certification
• Previous experience performing complex and sophisticated tax analyses, and recommending proposed courses of action with minimal input from supervisors is required.
• Minimum 10 years of Tax experience in a Corporate 500 and or National Big Four Accounting Firm with strong technical skills in US - International Tax Planning.
• Ability to interface with top management and work well with global business units.
