Amgen manufactures and markets biopharmaceutical products that are subject to oversight and regulation by several entities of the U.S. Federal government. The attorney in this position will be responsible for counseling Amgen's commercial operations on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues that may include contracting, sales and promotion of biopharmaceutical products in the United States.

The responsibilities of this position will be partially dependent on the skillset of the successful candidate and may include one or more of the following:
  • Advising and counseling on commercial transactions with members of the healthcare community (managed care organizations, hospitals, group purchasing organizations and distributors), including drafting and negotiating agreements with these entities.
  • Analyzing, reviewing and approving promotional, educational and support programs and materials and providing guidance on proposed sales and marketing strategies.
  • Reviewing and counseling on government enforcement actions relating to biopharmaceutical products.
  • Providing on-going training to commercial operations staff regarding legal and regulatory requirements for commercial activity in the biopharmaceutical industry.


Basic Qualifications:

J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and two (2) years of experience practicing law.

Preferred Qualifications:

4+ years of corporate and/or law firm experience counseling clients on healthcare/life sciences matters.

Experience counseling clients on legal and regulatory considerations and/or drafting and negotiating corporate or commercial agreements including:
  • Agreements with members of the healthcare community
  • Healthcare fraud and abuse matters
  • FDA promotional regulations
  • OIG compliance guidance and advisory opinions
  • Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement
