Summary:
The Ophthalmology R&D group is looking for a motivated Research Associate to support in vivo studies of new drug candidates for the eye. This is an opportunity to learn state-of-the-art techniques and develop new animal models. The candidate must be able to perform with increasing independence and able to design experiments, interpret experimental results and summarize data. The ideal candidate will have ample experience in animal handling and general in vivo procedures such as blood and tissue collection. Experience in ophthalmic diseases is a plus. Responsibilities:
  • Perform in vivo eye imaging, assist in the performance of ocular procedures in rodents and rabbits and collect tissue for histological or biochemical analysis
  • Section, stain and image eye preparations
  • Interpret experimental data and summarize results
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and troubleshooting

Skills:
  • Animal handling, blood and tissue collection and intraperitoneal injections. In vivo eye experience as well as experience performing procedures in large animals is a plus
  • Basic microscopy skills such as imaging of fluorescent samples
  • Computer literacy. Statistical analysis preferred
  • Immune stain of whole tissue organs or tissue sections, in situ hybridization is a plus
  • Experience with optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography is a plus

Experience:
  • Master's degree and 2 years experience

Requirements:

BS and 2 years of relevant experience or MS + 0

Animal handling, blood and tissue collection and intraperitoneal injections Experience performing procedures in large animals is a plus
In vivo eye experience is a plus
Basic microscopy skills such as imaging of fluorescent samples
Must be able to perform duties in two nearby campuses
Computer literacy. Statistical analysis preferred
Immune stain of whole tissue organs or tissue sections, in situ hybridization is a plus
Experience with optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography is a plus
