General Position Summary/Purpose:

The Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics & Translational Modeling Department at AbbVie, Inc. is seeking a scientist to assist in the design and analysis of pre-clinical pharmacokinetic studies of both small and large molecules. The position will be located for the near future at the AbbVie/Pharmacyclics site in Sunnyvale and long term at the AbbVie South San Francisco site. The scientist will partner with drug discovery and development teams, including the in vivo team, to assist in study scheduling, study design, logistical coordination and pharmacokinetic data processing.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Support project teams in the study design and scheduling of pre-clinical in vivo studies of both small and large molecules across multiple therapeutic areas including Oncology, Immunology and Neuroscience.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental team members including Toxicology, Pharmaceutics and Compound Management to ensure seamless and timely execution of in vivo pharmacokinetic studies.
  • Process data, perform pharmacokinetic calculations, interpret PK profiles, summarize in report format and distribute to project teams.
  • Partner with senior staff to maintain and update IACUC protocols
  • Assist in the preparation of DMPK-BA sections of IB and IND.


Qualifications:

  • BS with typically 7 or more years of experience or MS with typically 5 or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with software such as Phoenix WinNonlin, TIBCO Spotfire and electronic laboratory notebooking systems is required.
  • Highly motivated individual with attention to detail and a proven ability to work cross functionally.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative fast-paced team environment.
  • Passion for data analysis, solving technical problems and applying new technologies to further scientific goals.
