The Manufacturing and Engineering Services (MES) organization has sites around the world, including our Wyandotte, Michigan Manufacturing facility.

As a member of the Wyandotte site leadership team in the role of API Operations Manager, you will provide leadership and direction for the manufacturing group within the site to deliver the annual volumes of intermediates and API in a multi-shift operation, building a culture of high performance in safety, quality and customer service. In addition to supporting plant manufacturing activities, you will implement policies and procedures impacting operations across quality, materials management, engineering, and EH&S, while monitoring costs within the area of responsibility, leading department personnel and team development.
You will:
  • Be an important member of the site leadership team
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functional partners to deliver action plans and budgets to timelines, to implement ideas to drive efficiencies, transform the organization to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Identify and lead cross functional initiatives to monitor spend, improve compliance and manage risk effectively for the business.
  • Champion and model extraordinary AbbVie performance and talent management practices.
  • Champion an environment where all employees have the opportunity to develop to their maximum potential.
Operational Management
  • Establish clear expectations with all employees regarding personal responsibilities and behaviors for safety and quality
  • Run the manufacturing area to meet the site business strategies in line with budget targets and performance standards.
  • Develop a critical metric framework to monitor performance. Providing the leadership, direction and planning needed to influence a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and lead staff through hiring, developing talent and providing clear expectations through mentoring, goals setting and project assignments.
  • Lead cross functional investigations and troubleshooting activities


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required in a technical field: Advanced degree in a technical field preferred
  • Preferred industry experience in pharma manufacturing or API manufacturing
  • 7+ years of experience, including work as an individual contributor building technical expertise, as well as dynamically increasing responsibility and performance as supervisor/ leader of diverse teams in Operations (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering etc.)
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Business acumen coupled with functional leadership experience is required to ensure effective direction in a complex organization
