In this high visibility role, you will provide strategic oversight and day-to-day management for the United States Employee Relations (ER) and HR Compliance functions. You will lead high-performing, cross-functional teams and manage numerous high-priority projects, with a focus on providing highly innovative strategic solutions.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide general direction and training to ER staff; adjudicate complex ER issues.
  • Oversee HR Compliance and Affirmative Action Plan development.
  • Manage and monitor metrics and reporting.
  • Consult, coordinate and manage reductions in force as necessary.
  • Assist/participate in ER vendor selection.
  • Liaise with HR Leadership, Business Leaders, Business HR, Legal, OEC, Security and other key areas relating to all ER matters in supported areas.
  • Benchmark internal and external best practices.
  • Manage budget and headcount.
  • Manage country-wide processes such as the Transitional Pay and Unemployment.

Scope and Accountability
  • Overall ER responsibility for the company in the U.S.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on meaningful ER decisions.
  • Anticipate, identify and meet internal and external customer needs/expectations.
  • Influence HR Leadership toward optimal ER solutions.
  • Serve as a thought leader on how ER can improve AbbVie's competitive position.
  • Grasp complexities and perceive relationships among problems or issues.
  • Continuously seek additional information from across the company and from external sources.
  • Understand departmental and organizational processes and initiate change for the benefit of the whole organization.
  • Actively scan company/function information to detect trends and issues before they affect the company.
  • Assess the degree to which changes to the scope, issues and risks will impact a project's success.
  • Gather lessons learned and apply standard methodologies.
  • Assess and manage strategic risk to best achieve strategic objectives.

Education and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Employee Relations or related field. MBA or Master's degree in HR preferred.
  • 10-15 years of progressive HR experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience in employee relations. Multi-functional experience desired.
  • 8+ years of HR experience in a multifaceted global Fortune 200 environment preferred.
  • Considered an authority in HR regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Prior experience leading an exempt and non-exempt staff.
  • Proficient in application of common tools for leading project scope, cost schedule and resources.
  • Ability to execute while balancing risk with strategic objectives.
