The Senior Associate will work as a data analyst in the Research Operations Applied Information Management team and will collaborate with Amgen stakeholders and our team to develop innovative, "fit-for-purpose" technology automation solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Work directly with stakeholders to perform business analysis

Translate business needs into technology solutions

Contribute insightful ideas and subject matter expertise to project teams

Develop innovative and effective approaches to solve automation and analytical problems

Participate in software vendor selection process

Present proposals and project updates to teams and business partners

Develop predictive models through data gathering, exploration and analysis

Develop automation routines, dashboards, reports, visualizations, data processing and integration tools

Partner with R&D Informatics to communicate IS portfolio needs based on functional area requirements

Maintain familiarity with industry business standards and best practices and proficiency with current and emerging software development technologies

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree


Bachelor's degree and 2 years of data analysis experience


Associate's degree and 6 years of data analysis experience


High school diploma / GED and 8 years of data analysis experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry

Experience with scientific and financial data analysis

Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as Python, R, VBA, SQL, Javascript

Familiarity with version control systems such as Git

Proficiency of one or more data aggregation, development and reporting tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, Pipeline Pilot, Alteryx, SharePoint Online and Salesforce

Working knowledge of at least one RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.)

Understanding of AWS technologies such as EC2, S3, Redshift, Athena, etc.

Proficiency using Office 365, SharePoint Online, One Drive, Box, MS Teams and other cloud enterprise solutions

Passion for learning and staying current in advanced analytics and technology

Detail-oriented technical aptitude with strong logical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

Ability to collaborate and influence business partners and other IS resources to drive projects end-to-end

Strong time and task management skills to estimate and successfully meet project goals

Ability to manage multiple projects

Ability to communicate in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
