Amgen is seeking a Specialist Business Systems Analyst (Sr Business Analyst) to join the IS Law and Compliance team within the Global Information Protection organization to be located at its corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Business Systems Analyst will report to the Sr Manager Information Systems supporting the Law and Compliance Departments.

This key role will serve as the lead IS business partner supporting the Law and Compliance Department's business processes and technology platforms. The ideal candidate will engage with Law and Compliance business partners (Compliance Stakeholders, Attorneys, Paralegals, Coordinators, etc.) to understand their needs and use his / her technical expertise to recommend both technical or non-technical solutions using either key Amgen technology platforms (AWS, Salesforce, etc.) or niche solutions to meet business needs. The Specialist Business Systems Analyst will also collaborate with these key stakeholders to define and deliver continuous improvements that enhance and mature existing capabilities. This individual will manage key suppliers, service providers, external workers and partner with stakeholders to the implement required of solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Direct business processes design and software implementation
  • Actively engage with business users to analyze business needs, gather, refine and document business and solution requirements and recommend design
  • Work with cross-functional representatives across stakeholders to align business processes
  • Develop compelling business cases for IS investments and lead IS implementation projects
  • Create business process analysis artifacts, including but not limited to use cases, stories, process flows, project schedules
  • Manage the backlog of requirements/user stories
  • Provide critical thinking and strategic judgment to resolve significant technical and analytic challenges
  • Oversee vendors and contractors providing guidance as necessary to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Serve as the functional expert in Enterprise Legal Management (ELM), Intellectual Property and Annuity Management domain
  • Work with and or adapt to multiple project methodologies (e.g. Agile, Rational, Waterfall)


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field
  • Experience with successful software project implementations for Corporate Law Departments
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile Software Development (e.g. Scrum), business analysis, and/or project management
  • Working experience with and/or certifications in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Salesforce.com
  • Expertise in a variety of commercial and custom software environments used in Corporate Legal Departments (e.g. Anaqua, CPA, Mitratech, CounselLink, IPfolio, Onit, Legal Tracker, etc)
  • and employ that expertise to advise and support members of the Law staff
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate software requirements within and across business units and an ability to translate requirements that can be implemented in IS solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and implement new technologies and services to transform the business into a more agile, efficient and effective organization
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management, meeting facilitation, negotiation, planning, and organizational change management skills
  • Able to manage activities across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Results oriented with strong adherence to meeting delivery timelines
  • Strong team player who can collaborate and provide leadership through influence to achieve the required results
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to set the context and present on complex subjects in clear and concise manner
  • High learning agility, innovation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to master new technologies and processes with minimal support
  • Working experience with Robotic Process Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Search, Mobile, Social, Cloud technologies
  • Working experience with SharePoint Online, HotDocs, and Jira
