Amgen is seeking an IS Engineer - Data & Analytics to join our Research & Medical Informatics (R&MI) organization The IS Engineer will report to the Senior Manager, Global Medical based out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL and will focus on building upon our awarded Enterprise Data Lake developing value added data and analytics products (solutions) that span across Global Medical capabilities (Field Medical, Medical Communication, Medical Information, Publication, Evidence Generations and Insights). The Global Medical IS team within R&MI supports platforms, technologies and applications for opinion leader relationship management and scientific exchange and evidence generation globally. Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and utilize modern technologies stack to meet business needs
  • Develop analytics applications and collaborate with software engineers to develop data processing pipelines for large data sets using AWS and Databricks services
  • Deeply understand the existing landscape and then use languages such as python and SQL to program business rules
  • Review use cases, requirements and technical designs to identify areas of risk and write technical specifications, flow charts and drawings for your solutions
  • Collaborate with the other engineering team members to ensure all services are secure, reliable, maintainable, and well-integrated into our existing platforms
  • Follow standard methodologies for testing your solutions and develop and detail reusable code
  • Ensure effective communication between area management, technical staff and vendors
  • Explore and pilot new tools, and techniques and propose improvements to the data pipeline
  • Integrate the operations data platform with analytical tools such as Spotfire, the Data Scientist workbench, the Data Marketplace, etc.
  • Collaborate with Data Architects, Business SMEs, and Data Scientists to architect data products and services


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • The learning ability to absorb the nuances of a large bio-tech global medical operations function
  • High personal standards of productivity and quality
  • The ability to contribute in a collaborative and fast paced environment
  • Data pipeline development using AWS S3, Redshift, Airflow, and Databricks
  • Proficiency in software development using Python and SQL
  • Experience with data modeling and tuning of relational as well as NoSQL datastores (Oracle, Red-shift, Impala, HDFS/Hive, Athena, etc.) and data pipeline and workflow management tools: Airflow, etc.
  • Experience with distributed computing tools (Spark, Hive, etc.)
  • Working with agile development methodologies such as Sprint and Scrum
  • Experience with Software engineering best-practices, including but not limited to version control (Git, TFS, Subversion, etc.), CI/CD (Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, etc.), automated unit testing, DevOps
  • Aptitude for quickly learning new technologies and business processes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to juggle several projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of DevOps (Jenkins, JIRA, GitHub)
  • Experience in R scripting and R Shiny
  • Experience in MuleSoft and Salesforce development
  • Experience in any of the Artificial Intelligence areas of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Science, Robotic Process Automation
