Job Details
This role is responsible for executing a best-in-class supply chain for BMS biospecimens in support the BMS clinical portfolio. This role requires the ability to work effectively across a highly matrixed and global organization. This role will serve as a primary interface between BMS clinical teams and vendor stakeholders including laboratory, CRO, and courier partners. In that capacity, the Logistics Operations Manager will ensure a thoughtful, efficient and cost effective logistics solution is championed across the relevant book of work. The role will have responsibility for compliance with clinical import/export considerations as well as administrative oversight on relevant logistics contracts. Finally, the role is responsible to identify opportunities for clinical supply chain optimization.
Position Responsibilities
Executes against established strategy for clinical sample shipments to support overall business objectives.
Key interface between the Sample Operations Team, Clinical Team and Vendor Partners.
Works closely with vendor stakeholders to ensure resolution of sample logistics issues.
Oversee the timely and efficient consolidation and shipment of samples by BMS vendors and partners.
Integrates lessons learned across the vendor categories and partnerships within categories.
Partners with Outsourcing Management and Protocol Managers to ensure that appropriate study-level logistics are in place for the biospecimen supply chain.
Engages with Operations Leads to ensure an understanding of logistics options and considerations.
Responsible for relationship management, identifying and maintaining performance metrics, and invoice approval in scenarios where BMS contracts directly with a courier provider.
Accountable for maintaining optimal global biospecimen supply chain and leading transition where deemed necessary.
Engages with global colleagues to ensure understanding of and execution against customs requirements for import and export of biospecimens.
Desired Experience
Bachelor's degree is required. Project Management certification is desirable. Advanced degree is a plus.
5+ years of experience in Logistics, Distribution, Transportation, Supply Chain, Business Operations or a related environment. Must demonstrate a high level of performance in these areas.
Good leadership skills and the ability to execute global projects.
Familiarity with data capture and analytics, fluent in Excel, Spotfire or comparable.
A sound understanding of logistics, distribution and temperature controlled transportation fundamentals.
Demonstrate an awareness of IATA Standards and regulatory requirements for international biospecimen supply chain.
Has demonstrated leadership and effective communication and problem solving skills to collaborate across multiple levels in the organization.
First-hand experience of working directly with external vendors, as well as broad exposure to clinical trial operations in general.
Facilitates issue resolution and communication/collaboration with stakeholders and other functional area team members.
Proven ability to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment.
