His/her main goal will be to develop novel viral vector-mediated gene therapy approaches for cancer/blood disease/hematological disorders. Main tasks will include production, purification and characterization of novel viral vectors in various in vitro and in vivo assays. Experience with immunological assays and virus production is desired.
Specific experience should include mammalian cell culture, basic molecular biology, protein expression assays, immunological assays, manipulation of viruses and recombinant proteins in BSL2 conditions.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain, transfect, and transduce mammalian cell cultures
2. Design pseudotyped viral vectors
3. Produce, concentrate, purify, quantify, and characterize viral vectors

5. Perform basic biochemical/immunological assays (ELISA, flow cytometry)
6. Perform basic molecular biology assays (Cloning, Western blotting, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, RT-PCR, quantitative PCR, etc.)
7. Perform in vivo injections of viral vectors in animal models and evaluate the subsequent phenotypes using different assays (live imaging, immune-histochemistry, FACS,...)
8. Manipulate viral vectors in BSL2 cell culture and animal facilities
9. Analyze and present data
10. Maintain lab supplies and help with lab organization
Requirements:
Master's Degree and minimum 3 years of research experience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Cell culture, immunology, virology, basic molecular biology/biochemistry, flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD, experience with animals (general handling, injections of pharmacological compounds, tissue processing), experience with imaging
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Incumbent should be highly skilled in molecular biology / virology / immunology and have sufficient practical experience to be able to carry out well-controlled experiments that can provide reliable results with minimal supervision
- Incumbent should be able to analyze data and extract conclusions
- Incumbent should have experience with basic safety procedures and sterile techniques required for BSL2 laboratory function
- A general understanding of microbiology and general immunology is preferred
- Understanding of and experience with in vitro and in vivo assays with viral vectors will be a distinct advantage
