Summary:

The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for a knockout mouse phenotyping target discovery and validation pipeline. The pipeline uses genetically modified mice to evaluate therapeutic potential of both novel and validated disease targets and identify promising leads for follow up. The person in this role will be responsible for identifying cell types, expression patterns and morphological phenotypes in all tissues, and preparing data for presentation and database entry. This person will also be responsible for helping to develop and implement new assays

Responsibilities:

• The person in this position will be responsible for mouse perfusions, tissue dissection, sectioning, staining, microscopic and histological analysis of phenotypes.

• This person must be able to identify and document expression patterns and phenotypes in multiple cell types and tissues, requiring regular use of microscopy and data base entry.

• Effective communication of data and preparing slides for presentation is essential.

• The person in this role must be organized, able to manage their own work flow and consistently meet weekly deadlines.

• This position will also involve testing and integration of new technologies and assays, both to streamline and add to the pipeline, while maintaining high levels of data integrity and reproducibility.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree
2-5 years lab experience

Core Requirements:

- A minimum of a bachelors degree with 2-5 years lab experience

- A background working with mice is preferred

- Some experience in basic histological techniques

- Cryo and Paraffin sectioning (preferred not required)

- Solid knowledge in microscopy (preferred not required)

- General knowledge of anatomy

- Prior experience in bleeding techniques ( cardiac puncture / submandibular ) is preferred but not required.

Other requirements:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- An ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger project

- Experience with data entry, databases and excel.
