Responsibilities
Do you have a desire to work in clinical research using your ability to analyze medical images? Have you always wanted to contribute to pharmaceutical research as a core member of an Imaging Research and Development team? This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with clinical teams to analyze imaging data to influence and refine Lilly's clinical research studies. We are looking for a dynamic scientist who has strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to join our efforts to impact and improve clinical study design. The Imaging Clinical Research Scientist will use image analysis skills to provide technical insight and results focused mainly on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) image analysis and interpretation in support of the clinical therapeutic portfolio. If you are computationally adept, experienced in molecular imaging and have clinical research image analysis experience you could be phenomenal fit for this role. You will contribute to the design, image analysis and interpretation of medical imaging in clinical trials. You will apply your experience in image analysis, processing, and modeling and work cross-functionally within Lilly as well as with external imaging collaborators. We are looking for an independent, flexible and innovative scientist to work collaboratively to advance clinical image analysis and research that improves the lives of our patients.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
- Provide strategic and technical input on the development, implementation and quantitative evaluation of imaging biomarker analysis techniques in various phases of clinical development across therapeutic areas such as Oncology or Neuroscience.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal research and clinical (medical, operations, statistics, regulatory) teams as well as external CROs to support the validation of imaging biomarkers and their application in therapeutic development.
- Apply a variety of methodologies to perform image analysis and kinetic modeling.
- Evaluate emerging imaging technologies, capture and communicate scientific intelligence, identify key scientific developments and implement them in the image analysis pipelines
- Work with statisticians on analysis plans involving imaging endpoints.
- Contribute to design, editing, writing and reviewing protocols and technical imaging documents (e.g., technical manuals, imaging review charters).
- Establish and foster external partnerships and relationships collaborators and experts in national and international communities
- Communicate, present and publish results of research projects and clinical trials as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD and/or MD in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Biocomputing or related discipline with applicable training or experience in medical image analysis or
- Master's degree in imaging science or applicable discipline with minimum of 8 years of professional experience in medical image analysis using common modalities (PET, MRI, CT, etc.)
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Direct role and contribution to the medical image analysis field through publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presentations at imaging-related conferences and/or developed software codes.
- Experience in oncology or neuroscience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical imaging procedures and acquisition protocols
- Familiarity with image processing toolkits and programming skills to develop image processing and data analysis techniques
- Compartmental modeling using PMOD
- Understanding of state-of-the-art technologies including the integration of artificial intelligence with imaging/image analysis
- Statistical analysis of imaging data and experience in using statistical software tools
