We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Flow Cytometry Core Specialist-Operator in our new research and clinical production facility located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This facility focuses on the new challenging field of fully personalized T cell neoantigen reactive therapy for solid tumors using individual patient neoantigen TCRs.

The Flow Cytometry Core Specialist-Operator will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the flow cytometry unit in Research and will be reporting to the Lead Scientist. You will maintain, calibrate and operate cell sorter and analyzer equipment to support all activities in Research. You will also work with the Process Development and Quality Control teams to support analytical and process development of flow cytometry assays.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot flow cytometry analytical equipment
  • Operate high-speed cell sorter instrument
  • Help in the development of standard operating procedures and quality standards in flow cytometry
  • Collaborate with Scientists in the design, execution and analysis of flow cytometry assays
  • Design and execute new flow cytometric approaches and assists with continuous improvement of flow cytometry assays
  • Maintain and organize schedules for cell sorting and cell analysis
  • Maintain inventory of flow cytometry reagents and supplies
  • Assist in the evaluation of new instrumentation and technologies
  • Educate Scientists in best flow cytometry practices
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least 3 years hands-on experience in flow cytometry, ideally in the setting of a flow cytometry core facility
  • At least 2 years independent experience in operating a flow cytometry cell sorter
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing flow cytometry methods, including multi-parameter panel design (12+ colors preferred)
  • Experience with BD Fusion Sorter and Fortessa Analyzer preferred
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of flow cytometry instruments and methods
  • Ability to design and execute standardized laboratory procedures
  • Self-motivated, ambitious teammate who is comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent skill in data analysis using flow cytometry software
