Job description:

We are seeking an experienced, creative and motivated Research Associate to join our growing team in Santa Monica. In this role, you will contribute to the company's efforts to develop next-generation cell therapies in a variety of indications. The successful candidate will be expected to support efforts to centralize our cell processing activities, perform experiments, organize and analyze results and communicate and present findings in team meetings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Isolation and characterization of primary T cells from blood products as well as other cell types as required
  • Manufacturing, genetic modification and expansion of cell products using viral and non-viral delivery methods
  • Phenotypic and functional characterization of incoming material, isolated cellular fractions and manufactured cell products using flow cytometry and cell based assays
  • Manage biorepository which includes collection/receipt, processing and preservation of samples, documentation and data management of samples in inventory management system
  • Cell line banking, maintenance and characterization. Documentation associated to parental information, passage numbers, protocols and engineering information related to individual cell lines.
  • Execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail, contributing documentation as required for regulatory filings
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic, collaborative and cross-functional team environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree in Immunology / Cell Biology or other life sciences
  • 2-5+ years Industry / Academic experience in Immunology / Cell Biology (immunotherapy background strongly preferred)
  • Experience in cell separation techniques from blood products (preferred CliniMACs and Milteny Prodigy) and multi-color flow cytometry
  • Excellent mammalian cell / tissue culture and sterile technique required
  • Experience with primary T cell-based assays (cytotoxicity, cell proliferation, cytokine secretion, etc.) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and record keeping
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high throughput environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
