We are seeking an experienced, creative and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our growing team in Emeryville. In this role, you will contribute to the company's efforts to develop next-generation cell therapies in solid tumor malignancies by making large numbers of viral vectors. The successful candidate will have a strong molecular biology and virology background and will be expected to work in a collaborative cross-functional team environment, perform experiments, organize and analyze results, communicate effectively and present findings in team meetings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contribute to the overall advancement and success of our CAR T research programs.
  • Generate and characterize large numbers of lentiviral vectors for production of CAR T cells for use in in vitro and in vivo studies and IND filings
  • Stay current on the latest scientific literature relevant to cellular therapies, cell engineering, and T cell biology.
  • Collect, organize, interpret, and present data in small group meetings.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Generation of retroviral/lentiviral vectors and transduction of target cells
  • Experience with routine molecular biology techniques including droplet digital PCR, ELISA, protein determination, DNA/RNA extractions.
  • Proficiency in the use of software to support data analysis such as FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Smartsheet)
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as think independently and creatively; organize results and generate presentations; present results in small group meetings in a clear and organized manner; be an affable and energetic colleague and team player
  • Flow cytometry experience would be an asset


EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. degree with 2+ years of experience, M.S. degree with 0-2 years of experience
  • Degree in biology-related field required; degree in immunology, virology or cell biology highly preferred
  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture
  • Prior experience with cell therapy, and/or viral vector production preferred
  • Prior experience in industry preferred
