The Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Manager will drive world class EHSS performance across the site in a diverse biotech/pharma environment. The role will be responsible for the execution of key EHSS processes including:
  • Continuous improvement of manufacturing across site
  • Trending and analysis of EHSS information and provide data intelligence and actions
  • Provide EHSS support for new facilities and projects as part of EHS Design Review
  • Provide subject matter expertise for several EHSS programs including IH, industrial safety, contractor safety and sustainability


Primary responsibilities include:
  • Support laboratory and/or manufacturing clients with input from other EHSS subject matter experts at the site and from within the Amgen R&D and Manufacturing community.
  • Partner with clients to advance safety culture and manage EHSS risks
  • Analyze metrics and establish annual action plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and execute risk assessment plans for clients to ensure all risks are proactively addressed and control systems are implemented and maintained
  • Ensure all changes with potential EHSS impact are assessed and controls are established prior to implementation
  • Ensure all hazards are identified and risks are proactively assessed
  • Establish safe work procedures for hazardous work
  • Conduct regular inspections of the work areas
  • Monitor incident trends and assist management in conducting incident investigations to implement robust corrective actions to prevent future incidents and injuries
  • Conduct regular EHSS management reviews with Client Leadership


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of directly EHSS experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of directly related EHSS experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of directly related EHSS experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of directly related EHSS experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of Chemical and Biological manufacturing and laboratory operations
  • 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Experience implementing and supporting EHSS programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and influence management
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, action oriented, self-starting, program development and project management
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems
