Job Details
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Publication Manager will support the Clinical Development and Medical Affairs teams in scientific publication activities.
The Publication Manager may also be involved in creating regulatory documents and disseminating key scientific data into different formats for internal and other key stakeholders. This role along with other scientific communications team members, will be in involved, along with subject matter experts, in the development and implementation of a strategic publication plan. Key activities that the publication manager will facilitate and support include abstracts, posters, and oral presentations at scientific congresses, submission of manuscripts to scientific journals. The individual will be responsible for adhering to and supporting all of Nektar's SOPs, which includes adhering to GPP3 and ICMJE best practices.
Key activities include:
*Facilitating all elements of publications activities under their auspices, including coordination of internal, collaborator and author stakeholders. Includes facilitation of meetings with cross-team functions and potential external partners, as appropriate.
*Ensure all publication activities adhere to Nektar SOPs (which includes ICMJE and GPP3), which includes filing, archiving, and timely communications and follow-up with all key stakeholders.
*With other members of the team, update data dissemination plan at periodic intervals as deemed necessary.
*Liaise and facilitate interactions and provide direction and guidance to vendors supporting the team. Act as the point person for interacting with the selected vendor, (typically on a weekly basis
*Maintain timelines and facilitated milestones to to ensure timely delivery of publication material to scientific congresses and/or journals.
*Participate in timely submission of regulatory documents or other medical affairs documents as needed.
*Provide updates of scientific publication activities on a regular basis and/or as directed. This may include provision of updates in PowerPoint, word, or other formats.
*May include support of the development of congress plans, and collation of scientific expert activities, as well as supporting related scientific activities, such as scientific narratives, and mechanisms of action.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (Masters or PhD/PharmD preferred). Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 8 years of managing publication dissemination in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. A minimum of 6 years publication management experience is also required. A minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience is preferred. Good understanding of the publication authoring process by internal subject matter experts and using external vendors is required. Knowledgeable of ICMJE and GPP3 guidelines for preparing publication documents and knowledgeable of regulatory guidelines for document preparation are essential for this role. Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed organization. Competency of Datavision or similar programs is required, as well as proficiency with PowerPoint, word, and related programs. Excellent project management skills. Proven track record of timely completion of publication documents.
