Job Details

The Finance Manager, R&D Discovery provides FP&A support for all the non-therapeutic area specific groups in Discovery R&D Lake County, consolidates and analyzes the results for all of Discovery, and handles all the tracking and ongoing analysis for early stage external collaborations. AbbVie Discovery has 1200 employees across 5 sites, with an operating budget of ~$500MM and over 200 capital projects annually.

Key responsibilities include:

  • You will be responsible for month-end close including business meetings, journal entry approvals, Flash reporting, account reconciliation review and approval.
  • You will deliver monthly Actuals analytics - prepares meaningful monthly management reporting packages and reviews with businesses supported.
  • LBE analysis and related support for areas of responsibility. Prepares full consolidation of Discovery LBE and related analyses.
  • Plan/Update/LRP including analysis, business support, consolidation, system input (ASPIRE)
  • Third Party collaboration and routine business support to enable informed decision-making. Partners with business and proposes solutions to achieve budget within policy guidelines.
  • Provides financial review and approvals of purchase order requests and requests for capital expenditure (RCEs).
  • Supports key projects/initiatives and drives process improvements.
  • Supports ad hoc analysis as required


Basic:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA or MBA a plus.
  • Minimum 6+ years of progressive and related experience.
  • Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement process improvements, establish and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with all levels of management and including the ability to listen well and to influence others that do not report directly.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP and TM1 a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience desired .
