Lundbeck La Jolla Research Center, Inc. (LLJRC) is a discovery research arm of H. Lundbeck A/S. Our mission is to develop innovative medicines that address significant unmet need in the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders. LLJRC is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate, In Vitro Screening and Biochemistry to contribute to the identification and development of novel small-molecule drugs and support Lundbeck’s CNS discovery programs. The successful candidate will work in multidisciplinary teams to discover new therapeutics, collaborating with biologists and medicinal chemists to select molecules for further in vitro characterization and to identify trends in structure-activity relationships.
Your job and key responsibilities
You will be an integral member of a team providing screening support for the validation of novel CNS targets and the development of first-in-class drugs. You will perform in vitro pharmacological characterization of new small molecule drug candidates using enzymatic gel-based and substrate-based screening assays. Additionally, you will utilize mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to evaluate the effects of compounds on endogenous small molecule metabolites in target tissues or cells. You will also be responsible for analyzing, interpreting and presenting data to project teams.

- BS or MS degree in Biology or related science discipline
- 1-3 years of lab/bench experience in a scientific academic and/or scientific industry setting
- Laboratory experience/skills in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Both effective team player and strong individual contributor, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks and deliver high quality results under tight timelines.
- Experience with SDS-PAGE, fluorescence and absorbance assays, or cell culture
- Experience with mass spectrometry
- Experience with data analysis software including Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism
