Job Details

For patient services for all brands, responsible for 1) execution excellence through governance that enables organizational alignment, 2) program and portfolio management, 3) integrated planning and governance management maturity, and 4) stakeholder management. Also responsible for providing support and guidance to skilled team members who have the capability and tools to deliver high quality programs with excellent business acumen.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Governance and Leadership
  • Provide insight of prioritized and approved programs at a portfolio level, manage programs through a defined work approach, manage dependencies across programs and create, maintain and improve a decision framework
  • Visualization of strategic initiatives and portfolio metrics provide clear direction for decision making for both team and Patient Services leaders
  • Enhance governance framework that aligns with leadership expectations by defining approval and authority flows, managing third party relationships, monitoring project investment and strategy, creating a program management community, and develop project management career planning and path.
  • Lead and be accountable for the performance of the Integrated Planning & Governance (IPG) team in delivery of X-Factor business programs. (Up to 5 direct reports and 10-15 contract headcount)
  • Responsible for assuring program teams are leveraging the established processes and guidelines defined within the Enterprise Excellence Compliance team. Will work directly with the Compliance lead to understand new regulatory & Legal/OEC guidelines are adhere within the Enterprise Excellence delivery framework.
  • Responsible for assuring program teams can track and report established quality KPI's and adhere to program health checks as determined by Enterprise Excellence Quality Team. Will work directly with Quality lead to understand all defined document retention and management policies that are established to govern the various X-Factor programs.

Program and Portfolio Management
  • Directs the IPG resources to ensure programs meet organizational goals. Manage the program management methodology process, lead programs and assist others in leading programs to ensure they are completed, on-time, budget and delivers the value expected.
  • Play a key leadership role in managing the program intake process to ensure prioritization and execution of responsible X-Factor IPG programs. Define and implement metrics to measure success.
  • Possess the keen ability to assess when a program is off track and put in place action plans to ensure successful implementation. Establish and facilitate program management governance oversight.
  • Establish and lead overall program management performance expectations and standards and provide leadership direction to PMs throughout project lifecycle. Create integrated program roadmaps, identifying dependencies and managing constraints.
    Program Management Maturity
  • Continue to evolve mature program management practices including process controls and metrics, change management, and work process evaluation. Create Program Governance Centers of Excellence, and support capability and capacity management.
  • IPG playbook (inclusive of): status reports (executive and team), RAID log, RACI, resource allocation (Staffing plans)

Stakeholder Management

  • Responsible for engaging existing Enterprise Excellence partners, identifying new partners, providing awareness to key programs, set expectations, influence decisions, and maintain good relationships
  • Manage stakeholders' expectations, support adoption readiness, enterprise integration, transition planning, vendor management, and develop IPG taxonomy.

  • Resource Management: Responsible for making significant contributions to the development resource management strategy and organizational structure of multiple business and/or technology domain.
  • Liaison and Relationship Building: Builds collaborative relationships and effectively interacts frequently with business and/or technology senior leadership and vice presidents. Interactions focus on top priority programs and influencing strategic decisions. Interacts well with diverse groups across business and technology functions and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.

  • Position requires bachelor's degree and relevant experience. MBA, Project Management Professional certification and work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • 10+ years of program management and program governance experience with some situational leadership experience.
  • This role requires strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, program management capabilities, financial management capabilities and an in-depth understanding of the patient services and pharmaceutical business.
  • The position requires human relations and administrative skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, co-leaders and senior leadership in Commercial, Business Technology Services, Legal, OEC, Manufacturing Operations, Global Medical Affairs, Promotions, Brand teams, and Global Patient Services.
  • Conflict resolution skills including persuasive management techniques required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate concepts and problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization, including C-Suite.
  • Experience managing teams of at least 3 people with a resource mix of managers, employees, matrixed teams, virtual teams, contractors and managed service providers. Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, manage, and motivate people to achieve high levels of performance. Proven ability to drive outstanding employee performance and engagement through developing, coaching, motivating, energizing and inspiring team members.
