Paragon Gene Therapy, in Baltimore, Gaithersburg, Catonsville, & Harmans, Maryland, provides industry-leading GMP development and manufacturing services for cutting-edge biopharmaceuticals such as recombinant viral vectors, next generation vaccines & hard-to-express recombinant proteins and oncolytic viruses.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting Accounting Manager in the daily operations of the Finance department, including but not limited to monthly financial reports and analysis. This includes preparing general ledger journal entries, reconciliation, and assisting with the year-end audit by providing schedules as needed.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and journal entries for month-end, quarterly and year-end closing; perform financial statement analysis
• Posting Cash Deposits daily
• Monthly credit card reconciliation
• Prepare expense analysis
• Perform research on accounting issues
• Assist with financial audits and tax returns, including preparing schedules as needed
• Generating Ad Hoc Reconciliations and internal reports as needed
• Assistance with Bank Reconciliation (backup)
• Month end close duties as assigned
• Improve current schedules, tracking mechanisms, processes and procedures thru application of technology

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor degree, in accounting or related field
• 5+ years of experience
• Thorough understanding of GAAP; strong research skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Understanding and application of Excel formulas a must
• ERP experience is a plus
• Knowledge of accounting theories and practices
• Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure environment with high attention to detail
• Ability to shift and manage multiple priorities
• Job cost accounting a plus and/or working in a manufacturing environment
• Team player. Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning and communication skills (written and oral)
• Analytical skills are a must
